Sphero, created by the developer team Orbotix, is a programmable robot housed inside a 100% sealed and durable polycarbonate shell. It is so durable that a person can stand on it, and it will still not break. Sphero contains an accelerometer and a gyroscope inside of it. It also contains a rechargeable battery that is charged wirelessly. The battery provides nearly an hour of gameplay.
Sphero is made for kids, pets, and adults. It has an LED lighting system that can display an array of colors. The lights are made for using the Sphero in the dark, alerting you when the battery is low, and they are used within the various games that can be played. Sphero is IOS and Android compatible.

The Sphero 2B is currently in production and will be compatible with IOS and Android devices. Unlike the original design, it will be a tube shape with tires. The 2B will be fully programmable and will be able to reach speeds of 14 feet per second. You can reserve a 2B today. They will be available this fall for $99 or less.
Applications
Sphero can be used to race around, play tabletop games, and it can be used as a hand-held controller. With endless possibilities, it is also fully programmable. Using a smartphone or tablet, Sphero can be controlled with apps using Bluetooth via IOS and Android. Multiple Sphero balls can be used to play with one another in various games.
